Nick talks about LA Writers Room Placement

Early last year Nick set up and ran an innovative writers room project with Dublin-based writers called The Story Works, funded by leading irish production company Green Pavilion.

In November he and two other Irish writers, Daithi Keane and Mary McGuckian, were selected to participate in a week-long programme in Los Angeles in which they had the opportunity to shadow two separate major TV show writers’ rooms (Supergirl, pictured, and S.W.A.T.).

They also had separate meetings with leading US TV writers – here they are following a lunch with Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost, Dark Crystal). The programme, organised by Des Doyle and supported by Screenskills Ireland, is intended to equip Irish screen professionals with the skills and insights needed to create TV shows with global potential. Following their return to Dublin, Nick took part in a podcast in which he highlights what he learned from his experience in LA, and also how he established and ran The Story Works.
